SAFETY

Where can I find information about vehicle safety?

To find out information about the safety of your vehicle please refer to your owner’s manual or visit the safety page on our site.

Where can I find information about airbags/supplemental inflatable restraints on my vehicle?

To learn about the specific items on your vehicle, please refer to your Owner's Manual, "Seats, Restraints”.

What makes an air bag inflate?

In a frontal or near-frontal impact of sufficient severity, the air bag sensing system detects that the vehicle is suddenly stopping as a result of a crash. The sensing system triggers a release of inflation gas. This gas inflates the air bag. The inflator, air bag, and related hardware are all part of the air bag module packed inside the steering wheel for the driver air bag and in the instrument panel for the right front passenger air bag.

When should an air bag inflate?

The air bag is designed to inflate in moderate to severe frontal or near-frontal crashes. The air bag will inflate only if the impact speed is above the system's designed "threshold level." If your vehicle goes straight into a wall that doesn't move or deform, the threshold level is about 23 to 29 km/h. The threshold level can vary, however, with specific vehicle design, so that it can be somewhat above or below this range. If your vehicle strikes something that will move or deform, such as a parked car, the threshold level will be higher. Inflation is determined by the angle of the impact and the vehicle's deceleration.

What kind of child-safety seats should I use in my vehicle?

There are no specific child restraints that we recommend or endorse, but we do have some information that might be helpful to you.

First, we recommend you work with a child-safety seat manufacturer, or a local retail outlet that sells child restraint seats, for possible suggestions on what type of seat would be most appropriate for your needs.

In addition, you might want to try checking with your local hospital, police department or fire department for any information they might have.

Please refer to the “Seats, Restraints” section of your Owner’s Manual for further information.

CORVETTE

When can I place a deposit for the C8 Corvette?

We recommend you talk to your GMSV Dealer who will be able to inform you if they can take a deposit.

Which dealers will be able to sell the C8 Corvette?

All GMSV Dealers will be given the opportunity to sell the iconic C8 Corvette.

Can you build more C8 Corvette’s to satisfy demand?

Unfortunately, GM has a certain RHD production capacity.

We value our customers’ interest and high demand for these iconic vehicles with a limit on the production of RHD and our yearly allocation. We have announced the first allocation of Corvettes for GMSV Dealers and will begin with the allocation of MY22.

What is the warranty period on C8 Corvette?

Our voluntary warranty on the C8 Corvette is 3-years or 100,000km’s (whichever occurs first).

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled:

  • to cancel your service contract with us; and
  • to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value.

You are also entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods. If a failure with the goods or a service does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time. If this is not done you are entitled to a refund for the goods and to cancel the contract for the service and obtain a refund of any unused portion. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service.

Why is the Corvette so expensive when the USA announced pricing from $59,995 (USD)?

That price point in USD is for a 1LT with no options. Our higher than usual standard specification has our line-up starting with 2LT with Z51 performance pack and front lift as standard.

Additionally, considerations such as currency factors, being a long way from the manufacturing centre, less common right-hand drive production volume and specific local government taxes (Luxury Car Tax in Australia and 15% GST in New Zealand) contribute to our Australian & New Zealand pricing. We believe our pricing represents outstanding value for money in the exclusive supercar segment.

MOTOR RACING

Will GMSV be involved in any racing in Australia or New Zealand? Supercars or potentially GT racing with the Corvette?

We are thrilled to have GMSV’s involvement in Supercars with the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 joining the Supercars Championship grid in 2022, under the category’s new Gen3 rule package.

Why doesn’t the Camaro feature in the GMSV product line-up when you are supporting supercars?

We are focused on Silverado and Corvette. We are continually examining other opportunities carefully, evaluating both the engineering aspects and business case of any potential model.
